Squonk Opera’s (www.squonkopera.org) GO Roadshow is a musical street spectacle on wheels that will truly redefine Cleveland’s lakefront during Ingenuity. This show-making machine is a 34-foot long monster truck retrofitted with truck-horn calliope, a wall made of rotors and a spinning grand piano. Each show starts with a parade and night shows include video projected on a rotor screen, a blimp with an animated face. In GO Roadshow, Squonk draws from the great American history of traveling circuses, Shriner and holiday parades, medicine shows, and used car lot events.

When it comes to origin stories, The Knocks have a good one. After meeting at The New School in New York City, Ben “B-Roc” Ruttner and James “JPatt” Patterson both found themselves in need of a place to live. The two moved in together, and quickly set about making their neighbors hate them. “Our apartment is this small, shitty Avenue C apartment with paper thin walls. We both had studio set-ups in our rooms,” explains B-Roc. “It would be loud as hell, and the neighbors hated it. They’d knock on the walls and bang on the ceiling. We would go into each other’s rooms and say ‘I just got the knocks.’” In the five years leading up to the release of the new Magic EP, everything has changed for The Knocks except their address. They’ve been declared by the NME as one of the “20 hottest producers in music” and

Under the name Helado Negro, Roberto Carlos Lange crafts moody, experimental electro-folk heavily influenced by the ambiance and lush aesthetics of his native South Florida’s Latin culture. Lange is a frequent collaborator with Guillermo Scott Herren, better known as Prefuse 73, and is also a member of music group Savath and Savalas. The son of Ecuadorean immigrants, Roberto Carlos Lange was born in South Florida in 1980. His childhood was suffused with tropical heat, humidity, hurricanes, all refracted with the rich sounds and colors of the various Latin American cultures of southern Florida. Pounding bass beats from passing cars, boom boxes bouncing down the block, and late-night parties called “peñas” provided a foundation for Lange’s interest in sound and lifelong quest to discover the unlimited variety of objects used to produce music. Over the last few years Lange has collaborated with prominent visual and sound artist David Ellis to compose
