Description: Sweet water becomes an irresistible temptation to walk that fine line between impulsive and instinctive behavior. Being submerge in the act of living, allowing moments of empowerment, despite the unknown consequences of such actions.
Bio/Link: Lock holds a ballet diploma from the Grande Ecole de Danse in Bern, Switzerland, and a BFA and MFA from the California Institute of the Arts. In 2006, she relocated to Cleveland from Los Angeles, where she continues to choreograph and perform locally, nationally and internationally. Lock’s solo work has been showcased in Cleveland, Cincinnati, Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, Honolulu and San Francisco; she has performed in Switzerland, Lithuania and Guatemala, as well as in the European capitals of Vienna, Paris, Madrid and Edinburgh.
She was awarded an Ohio Arts Council Individual Excellence Award for 2009. Lisa also was voted best female dancer of the year 2004 by the Beverly Hills Outlook, and in 2002 she received a Lester Horton Award for Outstanding Achievement in Choreography in Los Angeles.
Her solo work has been showcased in Cleveland, Cincinnati, Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, Honolulu, and San Francisco, she performed in Switzerland and Lithuania, as well as in major European cities like Vienna, Paris, Madrid, and Edinburgh, Latin America performances include Guatemala City and Antigua in Guatemala.
Since her move to Cleveland, Lisa has presented two evening long works at the Cleveland Public Theatre, and has been a featured artist in Cleveland’s Ingenuity Festival of Art and Technology. She also had a great opportunity to work with Opera Cleveland on several productions, both as a choreographer and performer, and created original works for Cleveland Contemporary Dance Theater, Dancing Wheels and Verb Ballets.

Brian Murphy has been dancing professionally for 15 years with a number of dance companies including: Nashville Ballet, Cleveland San Jose Ballet, Richmond Ballet, BalletMet, New Orleans Delta Ensemble, Groundworks and Ohio Ballet. He has danced leading roles in: /Nutcracker, Coppelia, Hamlet, Swan Lake, Dracula, Peter Pan and Sleeping Beauty/. He has also enjoyed performing in works by Heinz Poll, Leslie Cook, Jennifer Muller (Muller & Co.), and /Diavalo/. He also co-owns a Pilates Studio (Pilates by Murphys) in Akron, OH, with his wife Suzy. Brian is a part-time faculty member at The University of Akron and is on the faculty and performs with Dance Caravan in the summer months. He is very grateful to be given the opportunity to dance with Hernando Cortez and Verb Ballets. This is his second season as a full-time dancer with Verb Ballets.
