Shimmer
Description: Shimmer is an interactive, multimedia work featuring dance, music, and video projection. In a dark space, lighted partly by a video screen, a dancer moves, creating sound by tapping and touching high-tech discs placed on her body and connected to a laptop computer. As she dances, she interacts with the music that she manipulates, allowing the audience to experience mental connections between movement, sound, light and color.
Bio/Link: Double-Edge Dance is a contemporary dance and music company co-founded in 1993 by choreographer/dancer Kora Radella and composer Ross Feller. They have performed throughout the USA and in the Netherlands, Switzerland, Spain and Belgium. Double-Edge Dance conjures multiple perspectives by utilizing a diverse array of artistic themes and processes. Double-Edge Dance works with contradiction and juxtaposition, layering materials and images including idiosyncratic movement invention, unpredictable phrasing, full 3-D motion, and disorientation paired with point-on precision. Complex rhythms and textures develop from the seemingly incidental. Double-Edge Dance maintains a sense of live spontaneity through choreography, composition and improvisation. They often invite other artists and performers to join them for projects. For more information, go to www.double-edgedance.org.
