Ingenuity Announces 2017 Festival Dates, Location and Theme

May 24, 2017 – (Cleveland, OH) Ingenuity announced at its annual Bal fundraiser earlier this month that the 13th annual IngenuityFest will be held September 22-24, 2017 at the newly established Hamilton Collaborative (5401 Hamilton Avenue) in St Clair Superior. The festival will present a range of performances, exhibits, and activities including dance, music, interactive exhibits, hands-on maker activities, local vendors, and more. In addition, a new cohort of IngenuityLabs projects, incubating artists and entrepreneurs on site, will be on display. Offerings from local food vendors and Cleveland breweries will be available. Admission to the event is $5 for adults and free to kids 12 and under.
After a successful pilot in 2016, the Hamilton Collaborative is launching this spring to create a maker hub and co-working space that serves the entire community with programming and educational opportunities for children and adults. In 2017, Ingenuity will continue to partner with collaborative members to build offerings, including working with Rust Belt Riders on the conversion of a 2-acre former scrapyard into a teaching garden and sustainable demonstration site. Other Collaborative members include, Soulcraft Woodshop, Skidmark Garage, Rebuilders Xchange, MorrisonDance, and
Architecture Office.
An open call is currently available on our website, www.ingenuitycleveland.com/applytoday for artists, creators, inventors, and experimenters to propose projects large and small. A separate application is available for IngenuityLabs, offering space and access to tools, resources and materials within the collaborative for the summer and beyond at http://ingenuitycleveland.com/incubate. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, with preference given to those received before June 15.
This year, Ingenuity’s theme of “Metamorphosis” will serve as an inspiration for participants. This theme is emblematic of the evolution of our organization and transformation of the neighborhood. We are proud to announce the return of IndusTree Alley, Makers Mecca, ARTchiTECHtonica, MOTOmagination Station, Music Meadow and more, in addition to a range projects which exemplify metamorphosis in all of its beautiful intricacy.

Where do I park for IngenuityFest?

We’ve been getting a lot of questions of where to park for IngenuityFest this year – and fear not friend! There are OPTIONS:

screen-shot-2016-09-19-at-2-49-00-pm

Street parking is available throughout the neighborhood, but if you don’t feel like walking or you want your car parked in a tended lot we’ll be offering parking at 5000 Lakeside Avenue for just $3! It’s just around the corner from the Fest located at 5401 Hamilton Avenue for those who want to just put it in their GPS. As shown in the map above, to get to the festival take a right out of the parking lot and head east, then take another right on to East 53rd Street to get to our Festival entrance!

Basically, if you’re driving from the East or West, take I-90 West or East respectively and get off at the E 55th Street/Marginal Roads Exit. You’ll take E 55th all the way to Hamilton where you’ll make a right. From there, keep heading west, until you get to E 53rd, where you’ll take a right, and then a left about a block down the road onto Lakeside. The parking lot will be on your left.

PS: Are you one of the lucky ones who was sent a VIP pass? Artists, vendors, volunteers and sponsors will each receive a parking pass to our VIP lot off of Hamilton Avenue. You may not park in this lot without a pass.

Ingenuity Fest: September 23-25 in Saint Clair Superior!

1393662_10153395383325235_549637990_nFor years, we’ve shined the light on underutilized resources in Downtown Cleveland’s urban core. Now, our city as a whole has never looked better. Where does this leave one arts nonprofit still looking to make an impact?

For the first time since its inception, IngenuityFest will move outside the Downtown district. We were looking for a place to take root and bloom – but also a place where we could feed the soil and give back. We wanted to better support artists and creatives with tools, resources, space and connections, to help them more easily present the visionary work we all crave – to amuse us, help us meet social issues head on, educate us and inspire. We wanted to move to a neighborhood with a strong but growing arts community, a diversity of residents of all backgrounds, great things happening and also more to do. We wanted to build relationships with local businesses, neighbors, and corporate citizens, and present in a place that captures the raw intensity of possibility. We found ourselves in Saint Clair Superior, at the corner of 53 rd and Hamilton.

We’re working toward a future in which we integrate seamlessly with a range of neighborhood initiatives. IngenuityFest 2016 will transform the former Osborne Industrial Complex into a new interface for our established and growing network of artists, entrepreneurs, educators, manufacturers and business leaders, as well as creative individuals and local leaders from the surrounding neighborhoods.

We’ve seen the power and possibility of collaboration during our festival and our other events, and it is our mission to help this kind of cross pollination occur 365 days a year. To that end, this year’s festival will include a pilot creative collaborative community built right on site. Participants and members of our IngenuityLabs incubator will represent the needs and aspirations of the creative community as we work together to vision an identifiable neighborhood hub and anchor providing low-barrier- to-access space and programming.

Our 12th annual IngenuityFest will be held September 23-25, 2016 with the theme “Awakenings,” which resonates with this new chapter in our organization. Join our community of artisans and partners!
