With just shy of 100 scheduled stage slots, IngenuityFest 2018: FuturePast, has SO much to offer in terms of performing arts. From headliners OSHUN (the sonic embodiment of Afrofutursim) and Dressy Bessy (Long-running punk pop rock band out of Denver) to our Pittsburgh-based friends and neighbors Squonk, who will bring us Pneumatica, a large-scale circus-opera brought to life with wind, air, and kinetic energy.
But did you know we’ll also have jazz, classical piano, poetry and spoken word, as well as a *record number* of dance groups coming to the event, activating our first-ever multiplatform, multimedia dance stage (the Tesseract Stage), plus our beloved Ingenuity Cabaret!
Top it all off with an assortment of the best Cleveland has to offer from local indie punk bands, singer-songwriters, multimedia performance groups, nightly DJ dance parties, and even a few pop-up renegade performances.
Join Ingenuity Cleveland and Fire and Light Performing Arts in celebrating the grand opening of Fire and Light’s new studio space at IngenuityLabs. This is the first dedicated flow art studio of its kind in the area, combining dance and skill-based prop manipulation. This event will be a fundraiser for Fire and Light’s class expansion and permanent studio as well as for sustaining Ingenuity’s year-round programming.
The evening will feature flow art performances, open flow art sessions, unique vendors, and dance party highlighting local DJs. Attendees will get to explore the FuturePast worlds and interactive artwork at IngenuityLabs!

About the hosts:
Fire and Light Performing Arts is Cleveland’s professional flow art performance company and studio. After four years as a performance-based company, we are excited to grow into a home for the broader community to learn, teach, practice, create, and be together.
Ingenuity Cleveland’s IngenuityLabs is a year-round creative business incubator program is in its third year, which allows selected Labs grantees access to shared shop space, collaborators, and their own studio/workshop space over the course of the summer, culminating in an onsite exhibit at IngenuityFest.
Parking, ADA, Sustainability:
Parking is available in our fenced lot directly accross from the event entrance at 5401 Hamilton Avenue, at your own risk.
We make every attempt to ensure that our event is accessible to all audience members. Event attendees should be aware that artistic events held in our former industrial space can present challenges such as uneven flooring and areas of low lighting. We recommend all patrons wear sturdy shoes.
We provide ADA parking off the 53rd street entrance to our event – Attendees can simply notify our greaters at our 5401 Hamilton entrance to be shown alternate accommodation, or reach out in advance to discuss any concerns. Please contact Hannah at email@example.com, or by calling (216) 527-8767.
Sustainability is very important to us, and we strive to make all of our events waste free by using compostable servicewear and partnering with Rust Belt Riders.
Thank you for your support, and we look forward to a wonderful evening together!
Each spring, Ingenuity Cleveland unites and showcases the region’s artists, makers, and creatives with its fundraiser Bals . . . Join us in supporting our Future and Celebrating our Past!
Ingenuity Cleveland highlights the creativity and innovation that make Cleveland a vibrant place to live. We ignite the spark where the arts, science, and technology intersect. By animating Cleveland’s urban spaces with world-class experiences, Ingenuity provides a unique platform for exploring the boundaries across these sectors. We do this through our outreach programs, partnerships and events including our annual IngenuityFest.
IngenuityFest 2018: FuturePast will be held at the Hamilton Collaborative September 28-30. Our theme celebrates the return of cherished traditions melded with the drive toward progress, forging a reimagined future. It represents whimsical ideation, a homecoming as our former industrial facility reawakens with new art and manufacturing, and the hum of imagination from the many artists, inventors, and renaissance (wo)men who call the Collaborative home.
In 2018, our audience will be invited to travel through time and space: help us imagine the many forms of these FuturePast worlds can take by participating as an vendor, exhibitor or musician (applications HERE) or by participating as an artist, illustrator or graphic designer int he Ingenuity 2018 FuturePast Design Competition! Entries for commission considered on a rolling basis, so the sooner you apply, the more likely we are to work with you!
There are so many ways these theme can play out: revisit the mechanical imaginings of polymath Leonardo DiVinci, celebrate the elegant machines of the Victorian era, or look ahead at the technologies of the future…
