Our 2012 Dates & Location Announced!
James Krouse | Thursday, May 17th, 2012 | 15 Comments »Ingenuity, the Cleveland Festival of Art & Technology, announces a new location for 2012. The Festival will take place on September 14 – 16 at Docks 32 and 30 which sit on the lakefront north of Browns Stadium and the Great Lakes Science Center. Two warehouses on the site will provide over 120,000 sq/ft of indoor space with ample outdoor space directly on the lakefront looking back on stunning views of the city.
This new location is made possible through a strong partnership between the City of Cleveland, the Port Authority and IngenuityFest. This collaboration will allow the Festival audience a rare chance to enjoy the lakefront in a completely new context. With cutting edge art installations, performances, and exhibitions populating the space, the area will be completely transformed and will offer a glimpse of the long-range lakefront development plan unveiled by the city earlier this year. Ingenuity will also be exploring collaborations with the Great Lakes Science Center, Browns Stadium, and The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum.
The City of Cleveland is glad to partner with Ingenuity, as the Festival continues to grow, energizing Cleveland in meaningful ways, including $4.5 million in economic impact”, said Mayor Frank G. Jackson. “We believe that IngenuityFest will be an important catalyst for bringing attention to our lakefront development through the celebration of creativity, technology, and the unique strengths of our region.”
IngenuityFest’s mission, which is to be a moveable feast celebrating Cleveland’s downtown, manifests itself in the move to this unique lakefront location this September. The past seven Festivals have taken place at such locations as Public Square, East 4th Street, Prospect Avenue, Playhouse Square, and most recently the lower level of the Veterans Memorial (Detroit-Superior) Bridge, which in 2011 attracted an audience of 45,000.
“We are very excited about this new location and feel that it can have the same transformative impact for the Festival as the move to the Detroit-Superior Bridge,” says Paula Grooms, Executive Director at IngenuityFest. “For three days our Festival audience can explore a space rarely open to the public and see it transformed through the vibrant creativity and innovation of IngenuityFest. It is our hope that this partnership will not only serve the Festival well, but will contribute to the long term vision of Downtown, the City of Cleveland, and the entire region.”

I hope you’ve been down to the waterfront and inspected the site. We sailed on the tall ship Appledore last weekend and the area was disgusting with all the seagulls and their droppings. On paper it looks like a great idea, but I would encourage you to walk the area. I don’t mean to be negative, I hope for another great festival.
I would like to submit some films for the FEST.
How do I do that????

The bridge showed true imagination… we’ll see how the docks play… I’ll keep an open mind.
